Randwick Thoughts
Race 1 - #7 Portorosa & #5 Madeira Sunrise
The two year olds are up first in the Lohnro Plate and I think Portorosa from the Annabel Neasham stable presents as a good value bet. I think this filly did a good job in both of her trials and she should be hitting the line strongly based off those runs.
The only other one that I was keen on in this race was Madeira Sunrise. Unfortunately I’m not there to see how those horses parade and make a judgement but of both of those horses, Porter Rosa is the one I prefer and then Madeira Sunrise is the other filly that I think has has trialed quite nicely.
Race 2 #5 Lekvarte
Race two is a fascinating race. We've got one of our horses to follow in the race, Lekvarte from the Joe Pride stable.
It's all about how this race is run. There is a number of horses who can roll forward, but Banana Queen doesn't look to get her own way in front like she has done her previous two. So it's about whether she's going to get across. If she does get across, she's going to have some company as well. And you've got horses in this race who like to roll forward like Cosmic Minerva as well, who's got the blinkers on again.
Having said that I think the horse that's got the best closing sectionals and the horse to beat is Lekvarte. But I give plenty of healthy respect for Banana Queen as well. She's a great type, I picked her on top last time from the yard and I thought she paraded particularly well on that occasion. I couldn't see her going backwards, so she's another one that you can add into the mix.
Race 3 #10 Miss Lenorr
In the Midway I'm pretty keen on Miss Lenorr from the Matt Smith stable. I think that Miss Lenorr will be hard to beat off of her Warwick Farm run last time out.
Race 4 #11 Super Extreme, #8 Preemptory, #9 Zuru
I always love having a look at the highway form as it can be quite tricky marrying up the different formlines. I've narrowed it down to Super Extreme, Preemptory and Zaru. so I've gone with Super Extreme, the Cameron Crockett stable, a proven highway contender from Preemptory from the Danny Williams stable and then Zuru.
Race 5 #10 Anagain
In race number five there doesn't look to be a lot of pace on paper.
A horse that will get an easy lead and is worth considering is Sonora from the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace stable. But I like a few of the chances that will be running on and hitting the line strongly.
My on top selection is Anagain who will get back but finish off strongly from Super Bright and Rupertaar. I’m not overly keen when horses are coming back from Qld, but Rupertaar definitely has the talent and if he's back in as good a form as he previously left he should be in the finish.
So Anagain on top, Super Bright, Rupertaar and Sonora are a few other horses you could have in exotics.
Race 6 #6 Banju, #1 No Compromise
Race 6 is another race where there doesn't look to be a lot of pace on paper, so I'm going with the inform Banju. Starting from the inside gate, it looks to get a really nice run in front with Rhys Jones onboard. Another horse that's been trialing really nicely is No Compromise. Unfortuantely I won’t be able to see the parade but keep an eye on the market for those two.
Race 7 #1 Remarque
I have marked Remarque on top here but there is a number of horses that are trialing really well and this is a race that I think you're going to be able to follow moving forward. I've always had a lot of time for Remarque. He did a great job last preparation, trialing really well. The ten is cote.
A few other horses I like in the race are Kote who is trialling nicely, Quick Tempo should be nice and fit for this and Dragonstone, who has again got the fitness and always hits the line. Dragonstone is a great little horse, but he's just hard to back with his racing pattern.
Race 8 #3 Aft Cabin
The Eskimo Prince Stakes and we get to see the return of Aft Cabin, who I've seen quite a bit of from his previous preparation. Apparently the plans are to take a sit on Eskimo Prince and it has been announced this morning that the Zou Tiger will also have a similar plan.
So the two market favourites are going to be ridden with a bit of patience because they've got a long preparation ahead of them. The horse that raced really well and won really nicely is Capitol Queen and she is one of the horses that we said to follow as well. She puts herself up on speed, she gets an easy lead in front, so she's one to definitely consider. But I have gone the way of Aft cabin. He just has too much class and I think he's going to be hard to beat.
I’ve always liked him as a horse and I thought he'd be an even better autumn three year old. Consider Capital Queen, Zou Tiger in exotics, and Ossipenko returns really well.
Race 9 #4 Kettle Hill
I have gone with Kettle Hill on top again, another horse that we said to follow. He jumps from the inside gate with James McDonald on boardand his closing sectionals were excellent last time out at Randwick so he is definitely my on top selection.
Wine Glass Bay I had on top from the yard last time, so he's one that I think you can put into your multiples. And I also added in Claim The Crown who's been hitting the line strongly.
Race 10 #13 Linderman
My best of the day is Linderman in the last from Sacrimony.
I think the stable mates will be fighting it out and if you're looking for something add a bit of value Astero had excuses last time out has since trialed and I believe he can run a better race than the market has assessed.
